Suffolk Country Garden

Sarah was brought in to bring the borders back to life in this extraordinary Italianate garden in Suffolk. There are challenges in normal dry, shady borders let alone ones towered over by magnificent fastigiate yews. She worked hard to create light and movement against the dark static backdrop of the yew hedge using whites, lime-greens and silvers which would echo the colours of lichen-encrusted statues. The texture of the foliage and the flowerheads of the grasses was supremely important and on a windy day the borders sway to beautiful effect.
